Thanks to all who chimed in - this is exactly what I was seeking! I would gladly welcome more comments from others on these acts...

SQUEEZE (since Sweets from a Stranger)
> ”Frank" is pretty solid. There are some good tracks on "Play," "Some Fantastic Place," and "Ridiculous," but they're not as consistent
overall.

Thanks for the suggestion - seeing them this summer made me wanna go back and pick up more albums, as they even sounded great on "later" songs that were unfamiliar to me! I may start with Frank.

TEARS FOR FEARS (since Seeds of Love)
> avoid the two post-Curt Smith albums "Elemental" and "Raoul And The King Of Spain", but invest wholeheardedly in the 2004 comeback record "Everybody Loves A Happy Ending"....but get the BRITISH version

At this point, I really wouldn't consider getting an album that didn't include both Smith and Orzabal, as I didn't care for the album Smith put out on his own (under the band name of Mayfield?). I've seen "Everybody" and I'm glad to hear it's worth getting.

MIDNIGHT OIL (since Blue Sky Mining
> The only two post-Blue Sky Mining albums that really stand out, IMO, are the live album and Redneck Wonderland. Blue Sky has some great songs, but I think their sound became a bit too polished. Redneck Wonderland brings back some of the pricklier elements of Head Injuries and 10...9...8 and is pretty rocking.

That's great to know - at their finest, on songs like Forgotten Years, Dreamworld, King of the Mountain, Only the Strong, Progress, and Blue Sky Mining, I thought this band was a true force. I hope they tour the U.S. again some time, though I don't even know if they're still performing. Thanks for the tip!

Be seeing you,
Bill
