Industry Canada sponsored a study in 2006-2007 to assess the impact of
music downloads over P2P file sharing networks on CD purchases in
Canada. The main conclusion of the authors was that "music downloads
have a positive effect on music purchases among Canadian downloaders,
but that there is no effect taken over the entire population aged 15 and
