*Wow, that's some serious synchronicity. I was just given a copy of a compilation of Chris Rainbow's work by a friend and I had the exact same response you did. 

Chris Rainbow's music , like the Left Banke, is far too good to be out of print and demanding those ridiculous prices on e-bay.

I'd highly recommend going to that blog and sampling Chris Rainbow's music if Joe's description interests you at all. (Thanks Joe for that link, I wanted to dig a bit deeper into his albums.)
