Well part of that is Raleigh and/or Chapel Hill.

I love living and playing here but it's not without its maddening bits.

In a nut shell, you have to really schmooze to get gigs. There are
soooooooo many acts and only a finite number of places to play.

Young bands have a better shot simply because they have more social
networking than bands like mine that are full of "older gentlemen"
whose network consists of people who go to bed early and/or have kids
and clampdown jobs.

By in large, NC club bookers do not call you back.

Cat's Cradle is a great place. Nice folks, but they really are all
about touring acts. Locals and regioanls make up about 10pct of their
bills.

Don't even try to play Local 506. I work there. It's tough. Lots of
touring acts too. The line to get in play there is unreal.

Don't ever take a booking where the split is 80/20 in the other party's
favor. That's insane. I'd like to know who offered that.

Keep at it. There's a bit o' brown on my nose but we play fairly
regularly.

Mike
