Aloha and welcome Kitty! It's always cool to see someone come onboard the Audities list with different likes and dislikes of music. Been here over a decade and rarely get a chance to release my love for all things musical as many on this list also enjoy music not normally discussed on this list.

Yes...I'm hit over the head everyday at work with popular mainstream music because I'm in radio but I do enjoy a lot of artists that we play and enjoy the unknown artists who in some cases actually sell more albums that the household names but that's a story for another time. *lol

I love the sounds of Sara Bareilles and Colbie Caillat. We've been playing them for awhile on the air and yet like other websurfers - heard their music online long before they ever got a record out into the marketplace.

Amy Winehouse...as much as others have given their reasons for disliking her...I've enjoyed her album. The only comparison that popped in my head when I first heard her latest release was how much she reminded me of mid-sixties Shirley Bassey with those arrangements. Maybe it's the use of those horns and basslines that I respond to. Who knows? I like what I like. :=)

What I don't care for is how freaking "bassy" every new record is. Some albums don't get played in my car because no matter how much bass level is turned down - it's still unbearable to listen to. This mastering war has got to come to end soon for the sake of music. Again...a discusssion for another day.

Outside of the three female artists discussed - there are literally over a thousand acts every year that have something to offer in a variety of genres and age brackets that really have talent and deserve a listen. Often our one listener complaint is that we play too many female artists. Good grief. If it's good...it's good...no matter what sex composed it or sang it.

It's good to see the kudos for Andrew Gold's "Fraternal Order Of The All" which surfaces every few years on this list and as someone had mentioned earlier, it is a fine album but shouldn't be considered a representation of his overall work. Definately a representation of his overall musical influences can be found on that album. :=)
