You don't, I like to think I don't, probably most of us on Audities
don't, but a lot of folks do -- especially the "future generations"
that are supposed to be served by a "hall of fame" in the first place.
Regardless of how THIS Hall of Fame is being run, I still think the
idea of public recognition of significant talent is a good thing for
pop music posterity.
And yes, pretty soon they will have to stop calling it the "Rock And
Roll Hall of Fame." Madonna's influence on pop music and the wider
culture was unignorably huge, but she ain't rock and roll, that's for
damn sure.
