Subject: SOTT 21 Forming

> The base rules and guidelines for SOTT are as follows:
>
> * Everyone in the group makes a brilliant mix CDR ( please use an 80
> minute CD)
>
> * The mix should be somewhat jangle, power pop/rock pop/pop related, but
> we all like to
> push the envelope, which is encouraged. I usually include some of my
> garage 45s or an old rockabilly cut and this time I know I will be adding
> some more soul. Good songs in a good sequence is the key
>

> either, but common is often different from one person to another. From my
> own take the best mixes have a variety of sounds and genres and mix rare
> things with newer things and older things and create a flow. Some
> perfectly good mixes lose it for me because they have too much of a

> mixes - I am more on the Bill Lloyd jangle side or garage side of pop and
> lots of
> the progressive stuff just doesn't do it for me, others love that stuff -
> the openness and eclectic nature of SOTT is one of its best features.
>
> * Once you make the mix you dub a copy for everyone else in the group -
> last time we were about 35 people the time before almost 50, so there is a
> lot of dubbing.
>
> * Most of us post liners/set lists with comments to the other members -
