My wife and I will be married five years come 9/28/07. We bonded immediately
over music when we first met -- a discussion of the artistic slide of
Barenaked Ladies (we both agreed that they started strong with "Gordon," and
then declined precipitous thereafter. And I won't aplogize for liking BNL,
either.
I knew it was true love when I suggested she go see Will Rigby play a solo
show in the East Village one night in 1999. I had just moved to Pennsylvania
and was going to see R.E.M. in Philly the same weekend, and was kicking
myself for not being able to be in two places at once.
She not only followed up on my advice, but also brought a tape recorder to
the show and sent me a copy a couple of days later.
When we moved in together, she started learning bass and began playing in my
band. Music has been at the core of our relationship, and I've always been
amazed by the degree to which our tastes have overlapped. When I played her
some "Audities" related stuff, she said, "I've always loved this kind of
music, I just never knew what to call it before."

Our first dance tune was "At My Most Beautiful" by R.E.M. I'd definitely
found a girl who knew how to make me smile.
