I saw the Sensational Alex Harvey Band live in London in the fall of 1976 in
a large pub in which every single member of the audience was roaring,
slobbering drunk and singing along. And Alex Harvey wasn't even with them
that night; the SAHB was actually a successful touring act without their
frontman (even before Harvey's fatal heart attack.)
I didn't know much about the band, and still don't. My blurry memory is of a
very tight bar band with a music-hall feel, singing in incomprehensible (to
me) accents but apparently having as much fun as their audience.
Since that night, I have never been able to drink Newcastle Brown Ale.
