I think one thing that would differentiate Wilson from Hunter is that Wilson 
is apparently trying to break new ground, whereas I wouldn't say the same 
for Hunter.  Of course, until I hear the new Wilson, that's all I can say 
(but based on that review, I'm really excited).

That being said, I wouldn't go as far as Bill and say that Hunter's music is 
better than ever, but that's only because that peak period (the Mott and The 
Hoople albums) are just so amazing.  Still, "Read 'em Weep" ranks up there 
with Hunter's best ballads and there are a number of ace songs.  I think the 
reason why is that Hunter still has things to say.  And to mention my faves, 
Ron and Russell Mael rediscovered that -- the last two Sparks albums may not 
be for everyone, but they are true musical statements.

Age is just a number, at one level, but I think that once you've created a 
significant body of work, you have to work a lot harder to even approach 
your best work of the past.
