Holy Moly!

I was gone for a couple of months (just stepped out for a beer ... okay,
a BUNCH of beers) and I come back and you all are talkin' bout' Joan
Jett, Don McLean, Silverchair (!), peeps are gettin' engaged, Paul Myers
has a great new book (sounds like!), "b" is mangling Paul Simon lyrics,
Jaimie's got flower children stuck in his fjords (that's gotta hurt) and
yes ... it's a yellow SPIDER! Man, I've been trying to think of that for
days.

Anyway, trying here to actually add something of value or interest: It
reads and sounds to me like The Feeling record might have the same
effect that the Decemberists record had on many people, i.e. a
polarizing one. I know folks who both hate it and love it with well
thought out and concisely stated passion. I saw them do 3 songs on the
Sundance Channel series Live At Abbey Road and I must admit, I like them
MUCH better now. The record is definitely growing on me. I like it when
they rock out a bit, and I think they've probably got a great record in
them somewhere down the road if they cut down on their sugar intake just
a twee bit. I believe there's an actual rock band in there somewhere.

If you like the two Don McLean singles from American Pie, you just might
like the rest of the record if you've not heard it. I do. It works as a
whole, I think. I agree that many an ounce has been stripped of seed and
stem over said album cover. I get high even *thinking* about Don's
painted thumb.

Joan Jett's career is indeed absolutely riddled with fine cover choices.
Why, you can't swing a dead cat in these parts without hitting a
brilliant Joanie cover. And say a prayer for the girl, won't you? She
and I are both, dare I say it, lifetime Baltimore Orioles fans <gulp>.
Yes, one of my pro sports teams is the laughing stock of the sports
world. We really do suck and it really does hurt. Thank god football
season is here.

still in Delaware (where?)

(hello Bob H. and Steve D.!)
