My best guess for the mystery song is "It's My Day" by Carl Strommen.  Strommen composes a lot of school choir music, and some of his other pop songs are in a similar vein.  But I can't find a sample of anybody doing "It's My Day".

Perhaps an email to his publisher would turn up something.  alfred.com

He's also teaching at C.W. Post (part of Long Island University), if anybody has a connection there.  Can't find an email address for him.
