So you left the Fountains of Wayne Concert early? You probably missed the
highlight of the Show. FOW performed a Super Hit Medley during "Radiation Vibe".
Rather than the studio style 3:40 version. They played a spectacular 8
minute extended version. Featuring no less then 6 Classic Rock Hits from the late
70's. Playing about a minute of the following: Life in the Fast Lane -
Eagles, 3 bars of Cream's Crossroads, Jet Airliner - Steve Miller, Let's Go - Cars,
Carry on Wayward Son - Kansas, Sharp Dressed Man - ZZ Top, Double Vision -
Foreigner. One Hit after another played in seamless fashion. They nailed the
vocals and music perfectly. Jody Porter's guitar was on fire! I've heard
interviews where Chris and Adam proclaim their love for 70's Classic Rock. I'm
sure they played these "Hits" just for FUN! Then a slam dunk with "Maureen" and
"Sink to the Bottom". "Go Hippie" closed out the night with an extended jam
between Jody, Brian on a (short drum solo) and Adam on a (combined bass
solo). Jody left the stage with his guitar in a feedback induced time delay
finale! The didn't even save their biggest hit "Stacy's Mom" for the encore. It
preceded "Radiation Vibe".

I think the biggest complaint for FOW is: lack stage presence. Chris is not
a very captivating lead singer fronting the group. The band play's in a
"workman like" studio fashion. In their defense. They are one of the "tightest
most polished bands" playing Live today. Very similar to the Knack. The crank
out song after song in studio perfect sound. Their sets are  somewhat short;
tend to run 75 - 90 minutes. At 3 minutes or less per song; they're playing 18
-22 songs per show. That's a real good mix of material. I wish the would play
more songs from the new "Traffic and Weather" though. Would be Great to hear:
"92 Subaru, "This Better be Good" and "Hotel Majestic".

"yes, we did get to the concert. Suicide Commandos were great.
Fountains of Wayne, not so much. I don't know what was wrong - they
seem to play the sort of stuff I like, but they just weren't clicking
for either of us. Not the worst thing in the world, though, since I
had to work yesterday, so we didn't mind leaving before their set was
finished.
