The annual (and, for the time being, final) trip to the Toronto
International Film Festival is almost upon us, and I've been compiling
a list lately of Canadian indie releases I'd like to lay hands on
while I'm in town. However, I've been on a strict no-CD-binges policy
for the last couple of festivals; combined with the fact that with the
closing of the once-mighty Sam the Record Man, ALL of my old favorite
record stores in town are gone, this means that I have no idea where
to go. Any help? Is there anything at all left on the old Queen
Street crawl between Bathurst and Spadina?
In about a year and a month, I'll be posting a similar query about
Vancouver: the TIFF is getting both too expensive and too mainstream
to be as much fun as it used to be, so we're heading west for our
yearly Cancon fix.
