Lightnin' Hopkins!!! One man, a guitar, tapping feet and a trunkload of
great songs. What more do you need?

Otherwise I'll go with Booker T. & the MG's, the Buckaroos, NRBQ, Los Lobos,
Holmes Brothers, the Bluegrass Boys, the Clinch Mountain Boys, Country
Gentlemen, Louvin Brothers, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Fabulous Thunderbirds
(early years), the Avett Brothers, Uncle Earl, Creech Holler, Gillian Welch &
David Rawlings, SCOTS, Mississippi Sheiks, Original Carter Family, Sonny
Terry & Brownie McGhee, Doc & Merle Watson, Leroy Carr & Scrapper Blackwell,
Memphis Jug Band, Lovin' Spoonful, the Texas Playboys, Maddox Brothers & Rose,
the Soul Stirrers, Nat King Cole Trio, various Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf
bands, and any group that included Doug Sahm.

Notice how most of the best American music comes from the South or was
Southern influenced? Almost all of it.

Jim McGuinness
