SF Bay Auditeers,
There's 3 more nights of IPO SF at Red Devil Lounge on Polk St. If you haven't been, what's keeping you? You can't beat the price of $8 for 7-8 bands and the always wonderful 3-cd IPO comp. And at what other music festival do you have the opportunity to meet the organizer of the event himself?
Friday night's show at the Rockit Room was great. One of my faves, Hope Chest, played and the night ended with a triple blast of high energy from The Brink, The Mission Satellites and Red Planet.
I missed Saturday night, but Sunday featured another exciting lineup, more varied than Friday. Plasticsoul provided catchy pop to start things off. Eric Friedman followed with bluesy countrified rock. I felt kind of bad for Brandon Schott because the singer-songwriter stuff didn't fit with the lineup. He sounded good despite the constant chatter of the audience during his set. The Mains had a Stones-ish sound to my ears. They had the unusual marketing strategy of bringing a single copy of their cd.
9 Red Sun came strong with the power pop, led by female vocals. I enjoyed their cover of "So You Wanna Be a Rock'n'Roll Star". I thought Fainting Ghosts had the top set of the night. I'm digging their cd at work today. Cult of Sue Todd finished strong to end the night.
Of the next 3 nights, I looking most forward to Wednesday (CVS, Bobbleheads).
