Yes, it's Sandwich of Love by The Mentors, classic California rape rock from the 80's. Courtney name-checked that very song in Violet, leading some (well, me) to wonder if she wasn't the inspiration for the song itself (as in Sandwich of Courtney Love). She is known to have hung with El and the boys back in the day, and "I'm the one with no soul" sounds like an admission to me.
Anyway, the whole of that first Mentors LP (You Axed For It) is a nonstop laugh parade of puerile misogyny, from Four F Club (Find her, Feel her, F*** her, Forget her) to My Erection is Over. Highly recommended for Beavises and Buttheads everywhere!

In getting ready to move, I have been listening to old compact discs and
cassettes (yes, they exist!). In a comp cassette made by someone "back in
the day", I came across a song that is a classic pop/metal song that I need
on CD or vinyl. The singer has a gruff voice and the song is metal based but
still melodic.
The lyrics in the choruse go something like - "In the sandwich of love,
there is one below and one above" (pure class!). I am assuming it is tongue
in cheek but still I get a kick out stuff like this because even though I am
44 and I still have the mind of a 13 year old!
any help would be appreciated..thanks..
