Anyway: all I'm saying is that the last Eagles-related album that was
any damn good at all was Henley's END OF THE INNOCENCE (which despite
the bad late '80s production has a ton of great songs on it), and if
Frey's solo career is any indication, he's basically washed up as a
writer and in poor voice besides, which is going to have a deleterious
effect on the harmonies. Therefore, the likelihood that this album is
going to be even as good as THE LONG RUN, which was a spotty and
disappointing end to an otherwise solid career, seems quite small to
me, unless the album is so jammed full of guest musicians and
songwriters that the band name is more of a corporate logo than
anything else, which will be its own form of disappointment.
But hey, boomer nostalgia doesn't mean anything to me, so maybe I'm
just approaching it from the wrong angle. You go and have yourself a
time.
