I saw him open for someone back when he was promoting Dressed Up In
Nebraska. I picked up a couple CDs at that show and, while they were
good, I played them once, maybe twice. After I picked up "1972," I
went back and listened to the early CDs and my impressions didn't
change. I chalked the difference up to Brad Jones' production. For
"1972" and "Nashville," at least. "Subtitulo" was good, but didn't
have the punch of the previous two. Not saying "Subtitulo" or "Dressed
Up" or "Home" are awful by any stretch, just that I personally have
difficulty removing "1972" and "Nashville" once they've been inserted
in a CD player. I'll be picking up the new one in about an hour. Based
on early reviews, I suspect it'll be closer to "Subtitulo" than
"Nashville."
