He's a spoiled, pudgy little queen whose only way of being relevent in this world is to have his publicist issue "shocking" statements to put his name back in the news. We call these attention-getting temper tantrums when our children (or Paris or Britney) do them. It's manipulative way of Elton trying to make people still pay attention to him. > I don't really even know how to respond to this. He thinks that music isn't any good any more (artistically) because of the internet? What's next >his breakfast doesn't taste as good as it used to because he got a new adding machine? I think the analogy would work if you substituted microwave for adding machine. But how can you take this guy seriously when he's the first one to admit he's a technophobe/Luddite?It's like saying that automobiles are ruining the horse & buggy industry. > I could (and do) understand that there are economic impacts on the music business due the the internet. I don't think those impacts are clear. Sure they are. The immediacy of the internet has made music easier to access...and not reliant on the out-moded form of delivery the *industry* had been foisted on the world. It has impacted music retail. It has impacted CDs sales. It has impacted the way we LISTEN to music. It's been 12 years since I hooked up my entire stereo system to listen to my collection. All my music is listened to on my computer....squeezed through MP3 players on poor quality speaker systems. I think this list in the last four or five months has thoroughly dissected that impact....thoroughly.> He's a sad old man who hasn't made a good record in many, many years. Let's get him back on the blow - that stands a better chance of getting us a decent Elton John album than losing the web.Sad maybe. But his last studio album, "The Captain & The Kid" was a return to form...it's a phenomenal singer/songwriter album...something he hasn't visited in nearly two decades. I highly recommend it. It's a sequel to "Captain Fantastic".Jaimie Vernon
