Last night was another quality opening night for IPO. If I only attend one show, it's usually the first night.

The Syrups were an early favorite for me, although I don't much care for that name. After thinking they were the band to beat, The Procession came out a little later and seriously kicked me to floor. Great energy and stage presence and all the right hooks.

Carnie sounded nice, even though she admitted to being scared. When she dedicated God Only Knows to Uncle Carl, I choked up a little. David Ponak's reference to Jack's Sugar Shack also got me feeling nostalgic.

But the real surprise for me was The Tokens. I had planned on leaving early, since I had plans Saturday morning. But I thought I would see what The Tokens had to offer.
The second they started performing, I knew I wasn't going anywhere. The vocals were sharp, the band was tight, and even the stage banter that probably works better on the oldie circuit was charming.
I just placed my order for Intercourse.

Speaking of CDs, I bought The Procession's album and would have bought The Syrups had they brought any. And the IPO CD that was given away sounded great playing over the PA between bands.
