Two quick notes:? I just received "Abilene," an advance track from Jesse Bryson's forthcoming album.? It was produced by Tommy Allen and Paul Carbonera, and Tommy described it as like Cheap Trick meeting Sweet.? Having now heard it, I'd say it's at least that good, possibly better--it absolutely kicks whatever needs kicking.? If you'd like to hear the track, we'll be playing it on this week's show.
Speaking of Tommy Allen, I had the pleasure of seeing him perform with both Screen Test AND The Flashcubes last night, and (once again) I've come to the conclusion that he is THE best power pop drummer of all time, bar none.? (And seeing the 'Cubes, Screen Test and Paul Armstrong's old group 1.4.5. playing on a single bill made my heart dance and blood pulse.? Um, in a good way.)
