The Nashville Scene <http://www.nashvillescene.com> is your most reliable guide to what's happening here.
Most likely venues for somethin' good are the Mercy Lounge, the Exit/In, the Basement, the End, 3rd & Lindsley...
Perusing the Scene's listings, my recommendations are the Features in nearby Murfreesboro (give yourself 40 minutes to make the drive) at the Sweetwater Saloon, or the Mattoid at the Five Spot here in East Nashville. Unknown Hinson's at the Mercy Lounge, but I can't make a personal recommendation there like I can with the other two acts.
