I had quite the opposite experience at the time - I often called WNEW, WPLJ 
and others. Of course, I was probably skewing more on the Alison Steele side 
of the fence (had many late night chats with her during my insomniac days) 
but I also recall talking to Dennis Elsas, Pete Fornatale and Scott Muni 
several times and all were like me - insatiable music hounds.. Over the past 
few years Vin Scelsa and I have exchanged a few emails as well, so maybe 
he's mellowed.
