I think I'm a pretty huge Rubinoos fan, have probably heard I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend a thousand times since it was recorded and of course think Jon and Tommy are pop geniuses who should be millionaires. What I'm not is a songwriter or musicologist, but as a pretty active listener for 35 years, I just don't hear the thievery, certainly not in the way of Ghostbusters or My Sweet Lord. If anything, the chorus rips of Toni Basil, which rips off...well, gosh, 100s of songs. I do hope it's settled out of court, 'cause I think it'll be a pretty tough case to win in the courts. When you get into "Hey! Hey!"s and "You! You!"s, I think all bets are off.

Terry McBride can blow me. He knows perfectly well that it's the most
blatant ripoff in years, and this will be settled out of court with a
rather massive check before the year is out.
