My immediate reaction when I saw Lavigne's video (which I actually posted a
few weeks back) was that the song *was* a ripoff of the Rubinoos song. When
you analyze it, though, the most "incriminating" aspect is the use of the
words "hey, hey, you, you" and "girlfriend" (substituted for the Rubes'
"boyfriend"). The melodies aren't really the same, just the rhythm of the
words. And, of course, the "hey, hey, you, you" was lifted from "Get Off of
My Cloud." There is no similarity in the verses, etc. It'll be interesting
to what happens.
