What I haven't seen mentioned by anyone else, but what I think is crucial to
increasing the likelihood that it could well be a case of ripping off the
Rubinoos, is that the song was a co-write with Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald).
Given how much pop songwriting he's done, it's certainly not inconceivable
that he could've heard the song. Plus, it's been covered a few times in
recent years; Farrah did it, as did Lush (although they changed the gender
accordingly in their version).
