so - i FINALLY got a chance to start playing the hoard of vinyl i've been
buying on my various trips this past year and put on The Marbles

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Marbles_(Duo)

their debut Polydor album featuring the Bee Gees on backup vocals and
songwriting (thank you Wikipedia - who knew??) - nice kind of white mod
soulish stuff - terrible cover and packaging, instant delete bin, i
think. but hey Graham Bonnet! who knew?? great to put on and stump your
friends...

got a 6 inch stack of French pic sleeve EPs that I'm slowly going through
- Jacques Dutronc, Dick Rivers & les chat sauvages (10 inch gatefold!!
wow), ides of march, sylvie vartan, procol harum, michel polnareff, les
surfs, sunlights, flowerpot men, france gall, the shadows, mind blowing
stuff... all found in cheapie bins in various Euro locales... i'm a big
fan of old French & UK rock in all of its manifestations (hey, Henry
Salvador, why not?)... the holy grail of cheap Vince Taylor EPs always on
my mind when I'm in France.. (not likely)....

plus an unbelievable pile of rare 60s French editions of cool jazz and pop
albums (including a Francoise Hardy gatefold - yeah!)....

got a nice little haul at SXSW of the cheese lps that i love (Joe Bushkin
is an awesome piano player with great lp covers on Capitol)

on the more banged up ones, i just stack em on my little mono Seabreeze
turntable and crank 'er... hahahaaa... put those old tubes to work....

sadly, i had no luck in liverpool - every place i hit had no cheapie bin -
even the Oxfam shop had guide prices on their lps (altho it was by far the
best and most organized Oxfam I have ever been in) ... there's a saturday
market that i missed, maybe next year... the holy grail in liverpool is
finding cheap old copies of the Mersey Beat newspaper....

audities list - old vinyl - my two cats sleeping on the couch - priceless

hahhahahaha..... good night.....
