Interesting. Kurt Torster has a line in his bit on Jellyfish that made me
wince:
Jellyfish is one of those bands that invariably evoke one of two responses:
1) Who?
2) Oh, my God! I love them! They are the greatest band ever! (In fact, youd
be hard pressed to find someone that dislikes them thats actually heard
them.).
While Audities certainly skews strongly towards Jellyfish lovers, I know I'm
not alone in finding them to be self-indulgent and empty (generally -- I do
like some of their tunes). Some bands I don't get into, but I like who they
influenced (The Doors, Patti Smith Group), but Jellyfish is on a different
part of the spectrum -- I like their influences much better, and don't care
much for most of the bands who clearly ape their style.
