I just got back tonight from a preview of "Introducing the Dwights". It
had it's moments but largely it failed, IMHO.
Spoiler (if this is possible for this film) alert, don't read if you
fear knowing how this flick ends.
Anyway, I bring up the ending per there is a moment at the end where
the film concludes with a lame rendition of "Nutbush City Limits". Sung
by Brenda Blethyn. Yes, that is what I said. It wasn't just that it
was a horrid rendition, or that it was embarrassing (and I think she's
a swell actress but rocker??). Even more, it was just one of those weak
tacked on endings that made "everything right" but was superficial,
confused and didn't even fit with the tone of the rest of the film.
Anyway, it stung to see the song so abused.
So...
Any moments in a film that just pained you to see a terrific song
abused?
Steve D.
