My impression of 1989 is that it stands as one of the worst years in history
for popular music (New Kids, Richard Marx, Skid Row, etc)

With the exception of some college radio albums from that year, everything
I hear from 1989 is practically unlistenable...at least to my ears.

I can't even stand "Full Moon Fever" any more.
