"We Got Married" a throwaway? Really...? To each their own, but I've
always loved that song...particularly with that guest guitar work from David
Gilmour, but also because I love the lyrics; I think they're a really nice
look at the disintegration of a relationship between people who got married
too young. ("It's just as well love was all we ever wanted / It was all we
ever had.")
Related reminiscence: I remember reading an interview with Macca when the
album came out, and he said the line "Going fast, coming soon / We made love
in the afternoon" was inspired by John and Cynthia, and that, as a young and
naïve Liverpudlian lad, he remembered being fascinated by the fact that they
had such a "mature" relationship that they'd indulge in a bit of "afternoon
delight."
