They're unreleased for a reason. Just OWNING a master tape doesn't give you
the ownership of copyright. This happens all the time. Tape owner attempts
to cash in on control of physical tape. The music biz doesn't work that way.
You need to own the SONGS to do anything with the recordings....publishing
and physical performance.
I have 1/2 control of a Shania Twain master tape from the second set of
demos she did that landed her the legendary recording deal with Mercury in
the '90s. Problem is, she owns the publishing and her aunt paid for the
recording sessions (so SHE legally owns the recordings). They'll never be
released unless Shania signs off. Which she never has/will. The tape is
worthless otherwise.
