Yes indeed,
Jaimie.

The PP actually began
as xeroxed clipsheet/letters in the very early 70's
between myself, my oldest pal Doug "Rock Serling" Pelton
(whom I believe you knew at college, Ralph?)
and an extremely small circle
of pop-loving pals, (wanna-be) musicians
plus various social miscreants
in the Toronto/Hamilton area.

In the Spring of 75
I began circulating my very own
"Pig Productions Patented Pop Parade" listings
of oldies etc.
by hand and some by mail
(which brought me in touch with whom was to become
not only my, but countless other budding young DIY-ers' mentor:
Greg Shaw).

Then a chance meeting with Joe Strummer
on my first night in London that summer
(whose 101'ers were opening for the Troggs !!!)
sent me Malcolm McLaren's way,
and both Joe and Malc insisted I go "legit" with my scribblings
upon returning to Canada.

So was born the very first "official" Pig Paper,
a mock Who concert programme
sold outside Maple Leaf Gardens in December of 75
(despite threats from MCA Records and the Toronto Police ;-)
.......left-over copies of which were on sale at Round Records
throughout 1976.
PS: Pete Townshend still has his.

Met Edgar Breau and Simply Saucer the following Spring,
immediately took off to Buffalo with him to do a Kinks PP
(Dave Davies still has his!!),
then The Dishes gave me their debut, self-pressed EP to review,
ditto Viletones et al soon after,
meanwhile Gary Topp was bringing the Ramones to town
(nobody else wanted to interview them ;-( ,
The Pig Paper soon begat Pig Records,
and the rest is..... hysteria.

btw, Speaking of all this olde pigstalgia,
I've just recently updated my site
with tons-o-links 'n' scans of this all,
for zine AND pop nerds here there and everywhere ......
