I won't be seeing CH until Sept during Austin City Limits Festival so thank
goodness I already have my tickets. For the latest on tour updates and band
news, check this site : http://www.frenz.com/crowdedhouse. There's also the
official band site : http://www.crowdedhouse.com. Here's an article which
contains a link to watch the video for their first single, "Don't Stop Now"

I rarely get to see Sloan perform so I took advantage of all 4
mini-performances during SXSW. I certainly wouldn't have seen more than one
show if I didn't think that they weren't enjoying themselves.
The last Shins show I saw was a major improvement over the previous one.
They actually looked like they were having fun and they seemed more relaxed.
I haven't seen Voxtrot yet even though I live in their hometown of Austin. I
have their EP releases but haven't picked up their full length yet. I'm not
in a rush though. I think that the songs are decent but I just haven't been
"wowed" by them.
I saw Future Clouds and Radar last night and it was just what I needed after
a long week. They're heading out on tour in the Midwest along with a couple
of Canadian dates. Go see them ! :-) Tour dates are listed here :

Another favorite Austin band is heading out on a Midwest tour ; they're
called The Fall Collection. Upbeat melodic punk/pop -- their songs remind me
of The Buzzcocks, The Jam, and even a bit of The Clash and The Who. Dates
and songs can be found here : http://www.myspace.com/thefallcollection
Another local band that made an impression on me recently is Shapes Have
Fangs. The singer sounds a little like James Mercer from The Shins. Their
tunes are 60s psychedelic/garage meets indie pop. I know I'm terrible at
describing bands - please forgive me ;-). I saw them a couple of weeks ago
opening for The Ugly Beats and they sounded fantastic.
Speaking of The Ugly Beats, you'll get a chance to catch their
mod/garage/surf rock goodness in the Netherlands and Spain from June 21st
through June 30th. Dates and songs can be found here :
http://www.myspace.com/theuglybeats.
Cheers,
Jennifer
