I have enjoyed this new McCartney album over the last few days. I wrote a "minute-by-minute" live review of the album the morning I picked it up (http://www.rocktownhall.com/blogs/index.php?title=minute_by_minute_review_of_paul_mccartne&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1), and reading over what I wrote from my gut impressions, I stand by it. The best thing I find about this album is that, rather than try to refer to his Beatles past, which he did to varying degrees of success on Chaos and Creation, he seems to be referring to his Wings past. It's a much greater distance falling short of his best Beatles work than it is falling short of his Wings work. Wings were, at best, a highly likeable band. This new album, which approaches solid, Wings-like levels, is a very likeable album.
