Yes, I knew that....

There's a big difference between having your new album in the hands of EMI's
A & R, promo and marketing divisions as a first class priority and having
them drop the ball (i.e McCartney's last two albums) and having Starbucks,
effectively an indie label, being distributed by Universal. In fact, it's
night and day. In the instance of McCartney's former major label deal he was
at the mercy of EMI's ability to sell the album. With Starbucks the paradigm
of the major distributor is only PART of the bigger promotion and marketing
campaign...and distribution outlet. If Universal screws up at their end,
Starbucks will still be selling the CD in their sotres.

I get McCartney's point. Distribution aside, he is no longer in bed with the
majors.

Because he's preaching to the converted. WE all know this....and he's
reflecting that back at us. If Lefsetz effected industry change with what he
was saying I'd be all over it and passing his notes around to people....but
it's just griping and bitching. I can do that on my own thank you very much
:-)
