Out of curiosity sparked by the generally positive reviews, I went
ahead and downloaded today. It's faint praise indeed to call thsi his
best work since at least FLOWERS IN THE DIRT, if not TUG OF WAR, but
that indeed is what it is. There are still a couple of dogs,
naturally -- "That Was Me" and "Dance Tonight" are both fairly
awful -- but there are at least a couple of terrific straightforward
pop songs here in "Vintage Clothes" and "Ever Present Past," and I
certainly didn't expect something as plain weird as "Mr. Bellamy" at
this stage of the game. So, pleasantly surprised.
