I saw him at one of his early US concerts (I'd
say...1996-ish?)and he was a drunken nightmare. He
could not sing, he mumbled through some songs...it was
a sold out 1200 capacity show and people started
walking out about 4 songs in.
We were ready to like him, excited to catch a "next
big import" before anyone else got to see him. He
didn't deliver and the American public lost interest.
That's my experience, anyway...he blew it on his own
terms.
