I've always figured that it was because he was just a little "British" to be 
taken notice of in the states. The singing group Girls Aloud makes singles 
that rival anything done by Destiny's Child, for instance, but they've never 
been able to gain traction outside their homeland. I'm just guessing because 
they're a touch too European for American ears. I'm not sure what it is 
about cousins across the pond that make them more inclined to accept 
bubblegum pop than us Yanks.
