Caught Candie Payne on the first night of her headlining tour and she was on
fine form. "In The Morning" was magnificent as was "I Wish I Could Have
Loved You More". It was quite a short set (30 minutes) and she did seem to
me to be holding back a little and not really going for it on some numbers
but that's probably understandable in case she blew her voice out. She'd
just finished a short tour supporting The Bees and so was probably
protecting it for the rest of these dates...

Support came from Anglo/Argentinian trio The Draytones who are based in
London. Bloody good they were too. If you dig 60's Beat combos you'll love
these guys. Luke Richardson's propulsive drumming was a sheer delight but
the sound man needs replacing as you could hardly make out the vocals. Can't
wait to see them again with better sound...
