I was never a huge Nat Lamp reader (I got into it early 80s-ish when
I started high school) but will say that the issue-length OC & Stiggs
tale is one of the funniest things I've ever read and a cherished
copy remains in my library to this day. Altman's cinematic attempt
has its moments but never really captures the destructive anarchy of
the mag.
