Some new music ruminations...

WILCO - Sky Blue Sky
The new album drops today. First single "What Light" harkens to the good
ol days of simple, strummy, yet heartfelt sounds of AM and Being There.
Anyone else heard any other tracks yet?

JASON FALKNER - I'm OK, You're OK
Something about this record seems a little half-assed to me. Maybe because
expectations are so high...with 8 years since the last full album release. A good
half of the album feels a little sterile, uninspired and not terribly catchy. There
are a few classic, purely golden Falkner moments...."Komplicated Man" is
certainly one of those - a track that would not seem at all out of place on his
last two.

KAISER CHIEFS - Yours Truly, Angry Mob
Their pop smarts shine through on this album. Of all the buzz-worthy UK bands
of late, they certainly have a few more hooks and songwriting chops than some
others. "I Can Do It Without You" is a fantastic little pop gem!

WALKER KONG - Deliver Us From People
Amazing new Mpls/St. Paul band. For fans of Robyn Hitchock & The Go-Betweens!
Check 'em out: www.myspace.com/walkerkong

BLACK TIE REVUE - Code Fun (Gearhead)
This Pittsburgh, PA band plays straight-up, high-octane POWER POP .pure and simple. The songs are catchy, the guitars are loud, and the melodies are strong enough to reel you in with a grin (RIYL: The Wildhearts, Red Planet, The Cars, Cheap Trick)

LAND OF TALK - Applause Cheer Boo Hiss
Formed around the formidable talents of front-woman Elizabeth Powell, this Montreal band's sound is dynamic, emotive, and deeply passionate - and alternates freely between Sonic Youth//PJ Harvey growl to the delicate, reverb-drenched sensibilities of bands like Camera Obscura or The Concretes. peace,
Jeff
