Hey all,
I know I haven't been terribly vocal on here lately, but now that the dust
has settled a bit I have an announcement and a request.
First the announcement is that Cliff (of Cliff Hillis, Ike, John Faye Power
Trip, Starbelly, Tisra Til...) and I (Beth of well, Beth) are heading out to
Los Angeles this Thursday so he can cash in on his Chili's Jingle Winning trip.
We will be out there from Thursday until Tuesday and I just can't wait, as the
J. Geils Band would say.
Anyhow, Cliff will be playing a solo gig at Ghengis Cohen on Monday May
14th, and it would be great to meet or see again any Cali Auditeers! Our very own
Anna Borg is hostessing this show, and it should be a good time. Cliff will be
playing a lot of his new stuff and I am sure he'd be more than happy to play
any requests that folks have (yes, he plays the jingle...) Please come out to
support Anna- so she can book there again- and Cliff, so he has another excuse
to head west!
As some of you may or may not know, Cliff and I actually met at the very
first International Pop Overthrow way back in 1998. He was out there playing in
Starbelly and I was out there from Boston to see Velvet Crush, Jason Falkner et
al. We met the first night I was in town, at the El Rey, and the rest, they
say is history. (or her story, as I am writing it all down for posterity and
possible publication. ;-))
We do have some fun things planned for our stay, but if anyone knows of any
cool shows to go to, places to check out etc, please email me off list. Cliff
is going to be writing some songs out there, so I will have some downtime to
explore and perhaps retrace the steps of where it all began.
