I think that is part of the problem, I know I read
a few magazines and the reviews are endless of bands
and artists I have never and probably will never hear
of. It does boggle my mind.
I also feel that too much brings about a watering down.
And now it is not because of some need to feel superior
about my taste over anothers. Not even close.
I think about all the screaming about parity in the
pro football and basketball leagues. As they expand
and add more teams the talent pool becomes strecthed
even further. And instead of a few really great teams
to watch and enjoy you now have many mediocre teams to
choose from.
Imagine if bands were like sports teams, and back in
the early 60's the number of bands to choose from to
join in Liverpool were abundant. Might lennon have never
hooked up with McCartney? Ok, maybe that is stretching
it a little, but hopefully you catch the way that I have
drifted.
