I guess what I've heard in the Big Star records must be simultaneous 
evolution as Cheap Trick. Same influences with a penchant for the same 
sounds and approaches to arrangement....which isn't unusual. Bands from any 
given era are the product of producers, their influences and the "sound" of 
the times.
