Thanks for the compliment. Many on this list, I think, have great books in
them...
Segarini has quite the checkered past but because he hasn't got the time to
sit down and do this himself, someone needs to follow him around with a tape
recorder to get the anecdotes that appear to be bottomless....
Many people besides yourself have mentioned my own autobiography as a book
idea. The biggest hurdle preventing me from writing it is that I'm still
working with many of the people whose stories I'd like to tell....and many
of those stories are inflammatory or unflattering. Not that there's a
problem with these artists (mostly), just that the best stories are usually
the ones where everything goes wrong or there's some sort of conflict to be
resolved (the tale of Anger Brothers splitting up DURING their CD release
party for instance). I don't think it would be fair to them, and it would
certainly be damaging to our ongoing relationships.
And if you change the names and generalize the story it becomes less
convincing especially given that I'm not personally as interesting as the
people I'd prefer to write about. I've had some wild stuff happen to
me....but who am I and why would anyone really care about my own story
except my wife, kids and maybe my parents?
I think there's a way of doing it and not offending my meal ticket, but
until I come up with an angle that would be a page turner, I remain, an
observer of an industry flaming out.
