btw,
This entire thread
is the most interesting I have EVER read herein.

so,
Here come MY few cents' worth.......

<< i want my music out there - that's why I have a store in Second
Life,
why I have a booth at
arts fairs and comic cons, why i do a lot of stuff in general....
it's a cumulative effect....
i'm even thinking of having the label itself go on tour... why not?
hahahaaa... why not a BUNCH of
labels on tour like those bookstores on wheels.... why not? >>

NOW yer talkin,
Ralph !!

Take the music/musicians/product
out of the din
(virtual and otherwise),

out of the stores and off the www,

and aim towards far, far off-beaten tracks,
out towards the horizon,
where there's less clutter, interference,
and, um, "competition."

I personally, for the last couple of years,
have been performing live mainly
alongside Cheepskates Shane and Jeremy
as an extremely unplugged and stripped down trio
that can play anything anywhere
(anyway, anyhow.... how does that first P.Pop song go again ?? ;-)

We always have a lotta fun playing club gigs,
especially when Dave Rave (!!) is along for the ride,

BUT,
when we show up
to play a front lawn or even church basement
in the middle of the afternoon
and in the middle of nowhere,
we have kids of ALL ages (six to sixty, honestly)
hanging on our every note,

and then, perhaps most importantly of all,
hanging out with us long AFTER the show.
Following us to the van,
and once even to a nearby Dairy Queen,
to talk, chat, show us THEIR songs.....

It reminds me all of seeing MY first bands
as a wee young (Canadian) tyke.
The awe, wonder, and sheer recklessness of it all.
Of wanting to Get Involved and, yep, DIY.

now,
I'm still trying to decipher exactly what this all can mean
in 2007 terms onwards,
but I'm being told by many in the know
(some even in the biz)
that our future -- maybe even Our Music's future
(I'm talking Audities-style p-o-p here)
is surely in this alt. arena of toil.

You think?

Comments? Suggestions?? Experiences already even???

discuss,

Gary "and Here's a clue for us all: Children's Entertainment" Pig
