I buy a lot of new releases these days rather than back catalogue stuff and
I usually never pay more than £10, occasionally £12. If I do buy back
catalogue then I'm probably getting it for £5 (the recent Sly & The Family
Stone reissues for example). To me £10/£12 seems a fair price to pay for a
piece of work by an artist that is probably only going to release an album
every 2 years or so and that I am presumably going to listen to multiple
times. Compare that to a DVD which will cost at least £15 new and I'll watch
once and perhaps never again. If you want your CD cheaper then the online
stores are probably doing it for £9 or so. All seems fair to me and I don't
feel I'm being ripped off.
