Dissing Geddy and Loverboy, Pat?

Thems fighting words!

PS: for those that care, new Rush album out this week ("Snakes and Arrows"), their first in 5 years (not including "Feedback" - a CD of covers). Never been a huge fan (was in my teenage youth), but you got to give them points for longevity after 33 years and 25 albums.

I was like the rest of you....barraged with early BB hits on Top 40 radio in
my youth. I never took much note.

These days, while I'm not drawn to buy or to listen to the BB's all that
much I do enjoy a lot of other music that is heavily influenced by their
output. Lewis Taylor's "LOST ALBUM" comes to mind cus I can't get it out of
the player or my head..."Past Tense" from Marc Bacino...one of the tastiest
and most goosebumpy BB knockoffs in my catalog...."Highway Noise" from June
and the Exit Wounds...(simply KILLS)...

So while I never got it directly...I AM getting it in a roundabout way
through the *filters" of others...

And I'd say it's more like RUSH if we're talking not gettin it in reverse
fashion, Hersh. We steeered clear in my neighborhood..'cus that munchkin
voice was just too trippy to take while tripping...

OK...if that doesn't seal the deal...do I need mention Loverboy my friend?

Obviously, years of freezing my ass off at cold hockey arenas have affected
my mind.

Sorta like the way you guys don't get The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, Ian
Thomas, A Foot In Cold Water, Moxy, April Wine, Segarini, etc.

Then again, we gave the world Celine.

Obviously, Canadians just don't get it.

I have no opinion about the Beach Boys one way or the other. As I mentioned
many years back in conversations, they were never in my sphere of influence.
And I have no urge to step into the way back machine. I appreciate the
multitude of hits they managed over a very lengthy career (I'm always a
sucker for good Top40 singles), but I haven't the slightest curiousity to
hear anything else. After being a captive listener in Dave Rave's car two
years ago while traveling through Portland, Oregon I heard the entire
"Smile" boxed set in one sitting and found it totally uninspiring. Yes, I
realize it's an incomplete work, but I wasn't there during that period of
great creativity for them. I don't get it. "Good Vibrations" smoked...even
the version with the alternate lyrics....but, again....I didn't get all
goose pimply or remotely overwhelmed by what I heard. It was quaint and I
appreciated the historical value of it...but it ain't in my collection.
